After a review of basics about child support, this webinar explores common challenges and tips when dealing with a difficult or abusive ex-partner. METRAC’s Legal Director, Tamar Witelson is joined by Charley Levitan, a family law lawyer at the law firm Torkin Manes. Charley practices exclusively in the area of family law with a particular focus on alternative dispute resolution and domestic agreements.  She has a breadth of experience dealing with child support claims and custody and access claims both in and out of the context of domestic violence. She has appeared at the Superior Court of Justice and has assisted in mediations and arbitrations of family law matters.

This webinar looks at the basic questions of who can get spousal support, and the factors affecting the amount of payments and for how long.  The discussion also includes how domestic abuse or violence, during or after the relationship, can affect spousal support payments and some ideas to ensure fairness and safety.
